What is a good way to get sharpie out of clothes?

I have a friend, and he decided to write all over his arm with black sharpie, then put on a white hoodie. The marker rubbed of onto the hoodie and now the whole left arm looks bluish gray. No marker was directly applied to the fabric. How can i get most of it out?

try some bicarbonate of soda with water until its thick and rub it in really well this might work.
